🏠 Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) (Rural Housing)

Objective of the Scheme

The primary goal of PMAY-G is to provide financial assistance for constructing a ‘Pucca’ (permanent) house equipped with basic amenities to all rural families who are homeless or living in dilapidated (kuccha) houses. The mission is to achieve “Housing for All” by a set deadline.

Who is Eligible?

Eligibility is based on the socio-economic status determined by the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) 2011 data and validated by the Gram Sabha.

Priority is given to:

  • Households without a house (homeless).

  • Households living in a zero-room, one-room, or two-room Kuccha house (with kuccha roof and kuccha walls).

  • Households with no adult member between 16 and 59 years of age.

  • Households with no male adult member between 16 and 59 years of age.

  • Households with a disabled member or no literate adult above 25 years.

  • Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Minorities, and other Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.

Benefits Provided

  • Financial Assistance: A unit assistance of ₹1,20,000/- is provided in plain areas (Note: This is the standard amount for non-hilly areas like Chandrapur).

  • Fund Transfer: The assistance is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account in 3 to 4 installments, based on the construction stage.

  • MGNREGS Support: The beneficiary is entitled to an additional 90-95 person-days of unskilled labour under MGNREGS (worth approximately ₹28,000/- to ₹30,000/-).

  • Toilet Provision: The beneficiary is also entitled to ₹12,000/- for the construction of a household toilet under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen (SBM-G).

Application Process

The PMAY-G scheme is demand-driven, but beneficiaries cannot apply directly online.

  1. Inclusion in the Permanent Wait List (PWL): Your name must already be included in the Permanent Wait List (PWL) of PMAY-G, which is drawn from the SECC 2011 data and finalized by the Gram Sabha.

  2. Verification: If your name is on the list, the Gram Panchayat/Block Office conducts a physical inspection (geo-tagging) to verify eligibility.

  3. Sanction: Once verified and approved by the Block/District Authority, the sanction is released, and the first installment is credited to your account.

  4. Submission: Contact the Gram Sevak to check if your name is on the PWL or if a new survey/list validation is currently underway.

  • Aadhaar Card of the applicant and all adult family members.

  • Bank Account Passbook (for Direct Benefit Transfer – DBT).

  • Job Card (MGNREGS).

  • SECC 2011 Name in the list (if applicable).

  • Consent to use Aadhaar (if not already provided).
